PAPTAC Standard Methods Committee Disbands
The Executive Council of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC) has decided to dissolve the Standards Methods Committee (SMC). The SMC, Chaired by Wayne Bichard of FPInnovations, was responsible for providing the industry with up-to-date scientific methods for the evaluation of raw materials, processes, and products. This means that new PAPTAC test methods would no longer be developed and existing ones would no longer be updated. These methods would still be valid and available and would continue to form a body of useful technical literature.
PAPTAC was founded in 1915 as the Technical Section of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association. PAPTAC is a Canadian-based non-profit organization, dedicated to improving the technical and professional capabilities of its members worldwide, and to the advancement of the pulp and paper industry.
Todd Popson, CEO of Technidyne Corporation, has been a member of the SMC for about 20 years. The final meeting of the PAPTAC Standard Methods Committee will be held on Thursday, May 14 at 9:30 AM at FPInnovations.
Wayne Bichard the longtime Chairman of the PAPTAC Standard Methods Committee has been battling with cancer and his health has been very bad in recent months. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
